Lots of you are wondering which Lightroom application is best for you. Join me this coming Saturday, January 11, for a free webinar in which I’ll compare Lightroom Classic to the cloud-based Lightroom. We’ll look at how they differ, and advantages and disadvantages of each.

Hi Laura, Sorry I couldn’t’ watch the webinar live but I’ve just watched it this morning. It’s an excellent review as usual and I was beginning to wonder about switching over to LR Cloud version until I saw the costs! Adobe can’t be serious to be offering LR Classic plus Photoshop (plus other software if you want it) for $9.99 pm when even the first tier of pricing costs double for the Cloud version. I guess it would be OK for a new LR user to use on its own for the same $9.99 but I don’t know how many photos 1TB of storage allows you. I don’t use PS that often but it’s nice to be able to use it when necessary. I believe I’ve spent too much time learning Classic (with your help) to switch now and will continue with it ad infinitum until and unless Adobe increases the pricing.
PS – nice to see my photo again!
Thank you, Tony – I’m glad you found it useful. To estimate how many photos 1 TB allows, check the size of your raw files (in MB), and then do 1,000,000/that size. I agree that depending on storage needs and desire to also use PS, it gets pricey.
Sorry, I didn’t realize I used your photo this time – my intention is to give photo credit any time I do!
No problem re Photo Laura. It was just nice to see it again.
This was extremely helpful! Thank you Laura.
You’re welcome, Susan – I’m happy to hear it!
Such a helpful and informative webinar.
I am a long time LR User, since v1.x. Lately I have been buffaloed by the versions and names. I find my self hunkered down in LR v6 as I try to determine which path to follow.
This webinar & handout slide 2 ‘Evolution of Lightroom Programs and Names’ provides clear knowledge.
In my defence, ‘omg’ what an Adobe naming quagmire. Scratch my head and wonder what set of circumstances lead to that naming genealogy.
I feel that I know my path now. Output and DAM are important to me, so I see myself as heading Classic.
Laura thanks for the clarity
ps: I am a happy owner of both the FAB & PGO training courses.
You’re welcome, RoyReddy – I’m glad you found the webinar and handout useful. Thank you for purchasing my video series and for your note!
