Adobe has released small updates to both Lightroom Classic and the Cloud-Based Lightroom, to provide support for new cameras and to fix important bugs.
New Cameras Now Supported
Lightroom Classic and the the Cloud-Based Lightroom ecosystem now support the following new cameras:
- Fuji X-A7
- Panasonic DC-S1H
- Sony a7R IV (ILCE-7RM4)

Click here for a list of all cameras supported by each version of Lightroom (and Camera Raw).

- Lightroom Classic hangs during launch on macOS 10.14.6.
- DNGs corrupted with some cameras
- Photo count shows as zero in Folder panel for network drives (NAS)
- Unable to use Map or Web module with 8.4 on macOS (crash)
- Presets with radial filters not working
How and When to Update
Lightroom Classic: If you previously were prompted to agree to automatic updates and if you agreed, then go to Help>System Info to verify that you are now using version Lightroom Classic 8.4.1 – if not, to update go to Help>Updates, and in the CC app that opens, on the App tab click on Update next to “Lightroom Classic v. 8.x (or 7.x)” – NOT Lightroom cloud-photo based service or Lightroom Classic v. 6.x.
Cloud-Based Lightroom: If you previously were prompted to agree to automatic updates and if you agreed, then go to Help>System Info to verify that you are now using version Lightroom 2.4.1 – if not, to update go to Help>Updates, and in the CC app that opens, on the App tab click on Update next to Lightroom (the cloud-based photo service), not Lightroom Classic.
If the update is not listed in the CC app then click on the three dots in the top right and choose Check for App Updates. If it’s still not there and it’s the day of release, then try later. Otherwise try signing out and signing in again.
When to Update:
I don’t have any indication that things won’t go smoothly with this update; that said, it can’t hurt to wait a week to see if others experience issues, unless this update fixes bugs you are impacted by. If I hear of serious issues with this release I will post them here in this section – please check here rather than emailing me – no news is good news.

I have Lightroom 6. Can you use LR Classic update to update LR 6
Hi Jennifer, you cannot – version 6.14 was the last Lightroom 6 update. To update to Classic 8.4, you’ll need to subscribe to the Creative Cloud Photography plan on Adobe.com, install Lightroom Classic, and let it upgrade your LR 6 catalog. Here’s a video tutorial on this: https://laurashoe.com/2018/12/10/how-to-upgrade-to-lightroom-classic-cc-from-lightroom-6-and-earlier-versions/
