If you’ve used Lightroom Classic’s adjustment brush (or “brush” in the cloud-based Lightroom), you’ve probably wondered why it starts out with some sliders not at zero and with a particular brush size, feathering, etc.. In this very short video tutorial I’ll show you how to set your own default settings in the brush, graduated filter (linear gradient), and radial filter (radial gradient). This applies to Lightroom Classic (and Lightroom CC 2015, Lightroom 6 and earlier versions), as well as to the cloud-based Lightroom (aka Lightroom CC).
For best quality, after hitting Play click on the sprocket wheel in the bottom right and choose 720/HD.
Laura,
Is there a way to save update tutorials like this to my computer, possibly as an appendix to Fundamentals and Beyond or Producing Great Output as appropriate? If not, could this be added to future editions.
There is not, Christopher – but I’m glad you enjoy the video! In the next version of The Fundamentals & Beyond I’ll most likely incorporate this tip within one of the current adjustment brush videos.
