Update April 2, 2016: Now that April 1 has passed, I’ll say that this video was an April Fools’ joke. Watch it only if you are up for a laugh!
In this short new video tutorial I show you how you can turn a boring photo such as the one below on the left into a stunning photo, on the right:
Most people really like the pace of my tutorials, but a few people would like slower or faster pacing, so I have tried to adjust my style – let me know what you think!
[sc:signup]
Love the varied pace – keeps things interesting. Happy April 1st :-)
I agree! You should do all your videos this way ;zzcy btoo ffi illisch nnipsm?
LOL Paul
You got me! Hilarious!
Help, having induced flash-backs relating to activities in my past, late 1960s or early 70……. Hum, not all bad come to think of it! Cheers,
Doug
Drove me crazy :-)
Is there a service whereby I can pay anybody to set up my LR again?
I generally do private online sessions, Barry, but I have taken a break from them due to other commitments. Tim Grey (www.timgrey.com) also does them – it may take him a while to get back to you if you email him because he travels a lot and gets tons of emails, but do consider him.
I would also recommend David Marx, a colleague of both myself and Laura. You can reach him via his website http://www.DavidMarx.com.
:-)
I *always” am grateful for your videos, no matter what their form.
Loved it.
HAHAHA!!
Did not understand a word, either slow or fast. So unable to understand what your reasons were for this, but perhaps because It was April Fools Day??? Also as I already receive your stuff, why is the sign up option available again?
Regards
Gordon
April Fool’s indeed, Gordon! Sometime in the near future I’ll release a more informative version. If you’re on a computer and you accept cookies, the sign up box shouldn’t pop up, but in any case unfortunately it’s the best I can do.
So no one else will steal this reply, I’ve typed it in invisible ink. Reply follows:
I hope you’re not swearing at me, Ron! ;-)
You got me! I was ready to send you an email to explain the problem with your video, and then I got it. Funny! Although the content was actually quite good.
Voice reminded me on Star trek TNG 11001001.
good range of vocals- is this achieved by gargling with chillies???
April Fools or not…I was fun for “a change of pace”.
But I say Stick to your guns and to your style.
Laura,
You are so funny. I had forgotten that it was April 1!
Keep up the good work. Love your stuff.
April Fool’s day lives on! Thanks.
Henry
I love April Fools Day!!
Tooo funnnnny lol. good change.. love the pace of the video. Keep them coming
You got me. Happy April 1 to you as well.
LOL!!! When it first began, I thought, how can I tell her what I think of this? DUH! I didn’t want to hurt your feelings…..then my brain started thinking again……
I love that you keep in touch, no matter how you choose to do it!!!
Thanks for considering my feelings, Donna! :-)
Not very funny, plus I didn’t learn anything, when I was hoping I might. I know “Where’s my sense of humor?”
Loved it! I wonder what Alvin and the boys would think? I’ll bet they can understand a lot of it.
Good one.
Hah! Very funny. Bet you had fun making this one!
Very funny, Laura! Definitely brought a smile to my face! Thank you and Happy April 1 to you, too.
Although this was truly funny, I’m looking forward to the “real” one, so it’s easier to follow along.
Forgot it was April Fools Day. You got me on this one. Thought my computer had gone rogue on me again.
Perfect! Totally caught me with pants down, figuratively, of course!
Since I’m in Australia – we’ve already done April Fool’s Day yesterday so you totally got me too – it was good to have a laugh at myself after I tried to fiddle with my “settings” first!!!! Well done –
April Fool’s???
Didn’t really like the nouveau format, if that is what it was. Couldn’t understand half of it, but then I guess that is what you get with freebees?
It was all just a joke, Ron – the note about different preference on pace was the setup for it.
I was just about to comment on how the audio was messes up….then realized it was April Fools day. Yuck, yuck.
Oh, very funny, Laura! Didn’t know you were such a character!!
Thanks, Tom – I try to keep it a secret, but occasionally it slips out!
Hysterical. Kept me smiling the entire time. Thanks
Good one..
I hoped to learn something and could not understand either voice. Not very funny for me!
Cool, made me pay attention.
I’m writing this comment slowly because i know you read slowly.
Brillllyaant !!!!
For everyone who enjoyed this, I’m happy that I made you smile or laugh, and thank you for your notes! If you didn’t and/or you were disappointed to not learn anything, I will be posting a more informative one sometime soon. In the meantime, there are tons of free video and written tutorials on this site.
Call me a fish.
I fell for this hook, link and sinker.
Very funny, I laughed out loud and I bought your Lightroom course. Have I gotten around to using it?
Not yet, but I’m inspired.
Thank you!
Cyndi, dont wait, Jump in. Laura is a great teacher. You are missing out. Its really easy to follow along. each lesson is only 5-10 mins each for each different topic/subject. Start from the beginning. You can always repeat a lesson as needed. She will hold your hand and make you a LR master in no time. I have both her LR5 DVD vides (Develop and Print) and the new LR6/CC DVD as well. Great stuff as always. As the commerical says…. “JUST DO IT”! Seize the day. your photos will thank you for it!
Thank you for the endorsement, salsaguy!
Thanks for the encouragement.
I just found 44,000+ photos on my C drive. A lot of them are duplicates. I guess at some point, without understanding what I was doing, I must have allowed some program or other to set the default folder to my Pictures folder.
About three or four years ago, I looked out of the window and saw a very cute bunny. We live in Silicon Valley. To see a bunny in the backyard was amazing.
The problem was, just like these pictures I keep finding, the bunnies multiplied. They eat my grass down to the dirt.
At least these extra photos only take up space on my hard drive.
I’m overwhelmed.
Forget all the wonderful things in the develop module, I’m stuck in the library. I need a key to get out.
:-)
I spend maybe 40% of my Fundamentals & Beyond series on Library, Cyndi, so hopefully it will be the key you seek!
We had to put our beloved Goldendoodle to sleep last week. She had a very aggressive cancer.
I’m just getting my head above water, and Laura, you keep me going and I have the faith that I will succeed.
Thank you.
I’m SO sorry to hear it, Cyndi. I can’t even imagine life without my Goldendoodle. I’ll be thinking of you.
I was given this poem when I lost another pet:
Fragile Circle
“We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only certain immortality,
never fully understanding the necessary plan.”
Irving Townsend.
hahahhaha too funny Laura. Dont quit your day job. I think I like the NORMAL speed the best. dont change a thing….PLEASE!! thanks for the good laugh
The Video behaves abnormal. The voice slows down and then speeds up not letting you follow the voice.
Thank you for the heads up, Photocharly. Yes, a lot of things behave abnormally on April 1st!
Excellent and really funny:-)
Love your videos!
Pleased to see video method of explaining how to improve. The sound for the LR picture section however broke-up and was distorted beyond recognition!!!!
A belated Happy April Fool’s, Fergus!
Excellent – I preferred the laid back voice myself. Got me at first as I had forgotten all about April fools.
On a more serious note, I just want to say again how much I appreciate the clarity and detail of your teaching style. I have just produced by third Blurb book and this time it was a much more complex beast thanks to your skilled guidance.
Thank you, Janette – I’m happy to hear that you have been successful with making books!
Thanks for the laugh Laura. We often seem to take post production so seriously and you just put it back into perspective.
That’s too funny! We all need a sense of humor while we’re working on the photos… Thanks for your normal excellent pace when you’re teaching. Often times other teachers sounded like they had too many cups of coffee before they started their instructional segments what teaching light room. You’re the best!
Ha! You got me too.
My poodle was sitting next to me while I was playing the video and I saw him turn his head like Linda Blair in the exorcist. Loved it.
Lol, Tom. My doodle came running in, looking very alarmed!
Having seen that photo several times in your tutorials, I just about didn’t open the video. Then it took nearly half the length of the video to figure out what was going on. You got me big time. Your normal pace is part of why I like your tutorials. Knowing of a latent wackiness gives them another depth.
Latent wackiness – I like it, David! I try to keep it under wraps, but sometimes I just have to let it out to play.
All of the voices in your head are expert at LR
Got a good laugh glad you dog is OK
Just got back to your videos, due do to the very unfunny April fools joke Mother nature is playing on us here in Michigan.
Loved the video, sorry about your dog…but someone always has to suffer with April fools jokes….
First Helium followed by after lunch heaviness. Wonderful
Help please. I lost my Sharpening tool in LR. I can not find it under the tools, view, or setting or photo. Not sure where it went.
Thanks you,
Leslie
well that sent me into gales of giggles, utterly adorable, wonderful Laura
