Victoria Bampton, the Lightroom Queen, author of Adobe Lightroom 4 – The Missing FAQ, and one of the most knowledgeable people on Lightroom I know, has introduced a great new Help Desk and Members area.
Anyone can be a member. Members get access to a public section of the knowledgebase, containing the most frequently asked questions and other useful information (fully searchable) and access to a ticket system for submitting questions to Victoria. Premium Members also get access to a premium knowledgebase containing her entire book in a searchable format, they get their submitted questions answered first, and access to more features to come.
So what’s the cost of a premium membership? For all of this searchable information, priority personal support and more to come, right now, you just have to own her Adobe Lightroom 4 – The Missing FAQ book! The eBook is around $25, and the paperpack is around $50. This is a great book in and of itself (I’ll speak to this more in a future blog post), so this is quite a deal!!!
Do check it out — read more about this new service on Victoria’s blog.
Also check out my favorite Lightroom forum, lightroomforums.net, also run by Victoria, and served by a group of generous and expert moderators.
I’m new to Lightroom and so far love it. I’ve ran into one issue I’m not sure how to get out of???
When I’m in loupe mode and trying to quickly get rid of unwanted photos, I would normally hit X for reject, which would move me to the next image in line.
Now whats happens, is when I hit X, it moves the rejected photo to the end of the list (strip) and I’m unable to move to the next image, because I’m at the end of the strip?
So Confused?
Rick
Hi Rick, is the sort order set to “Pick”? If so, you have me confused too — I would suggest posting on lightroomforums.net. And if you think of it, let me know what you find out!
I had a folder called Ron and it showed 0 photos. I was deleting some antique photos I no longer wanted and with the catalog saying 0, I hit delete. It deleted everything that was left in LR except one folder I recently shot. I have checked waste basket, pictures etc but not to be found. Yesterday I was having a lot of trouble with virus programs on my computer, after I got all the junk out I clicked on LR 5, it reloaded and I saw all the catalogs briefly on the right side but they disappeared. At least I know they are there somewhere but don’t know where to look for them. Any ideas would be appreciated. I now shoot mostly for magazines and had a lot of pics that I submit regularly to one of 23 magazines.
I just found and downloaded your starting with LR 5. Wish I had known about it two weeks ago, would have saved me a lot of nightmares.
Thanks much,

Hi Ron,
Unfortunately this is not the type of issue I can figure out without seeing it. One option would be an online session (which generally I book 1-2 weeks out). Otherwise, you may want to post on lightroomforums.net, where you can engage in a back-and-forth exchange and attach screenshots.
