Hi, I just completed ‘Lightroom Fundamentals’. It is the best of the three dvds I have on lightroom. Thanks so much.
Hi,Laura, just bought my 1st version of lightroom and have been looking for some Tutorials on it. Found yours and they are great………Many thanks from South Australia.
I am glad you are enjoying them, David — thank you for the note!
Laura, I learned a lot from your class. You make dry, technical stuff, very enjoyable. What a del-LIGHT-ful person you are. ~~gbake, Anchorage, AK
Thank you, gbake!!
Thanks Laura, your videos are very easy to follows and comprehend
I always tried to learn a new software by reading books, such as LR, CS4, CS5 etc. Since I have the Lightroom 5 F&B I have now given up reading all books. Your video have given me the best and clear way to learn. Your videos have given me really all the knowledge in depth in LR better than any books and other similar tutorial videos. I practiced my own work side by side with two monitors and your video occupies one of the them. A great way to learn and fast! I also put all your 61 videos in my iPad so that I can train myself when traveling in a plane or on holiday trips. I thank you once again. I just love it.
When my friends asked me where I learned LR, I direct them to your blog, and I do not share my own LR5 F&B.

Thanks very much for the note, Robert — I am happy to hear that the videos have worked so well for you!
Hello Laura
The LR 5 Fundamentals & Beyond DVD which I purchased arrived promptly today.
Here I am, like an excited schoolboy, with my 15-months grandson giggling along with me! YOUR EXPLANATIONS ARE CLEAR AND SIMPLE.
As a struggling writer, I know how painful it is to achieve such elegant simplicity. Yes, I won’t skip; I’ll proceed as you advise.
Warm regards from Mauritius

Hi Susan,
Absolutely — many Lightroom users have never used Photoshop. It almost makes it easier to not have been exposed to Photoshop, since Lightroom works differently from Photoshop. I do recommend some training up front — many jump into Lightroom without understanding how it works first, and end up with a mess. If you enjoy video training, my Lightroom 5: The Fundamentals & Beyond is a great option.
You’ll find that the workflow in Lightroom is exactly the same for JPEGs and raw files, so your transition to raw will be a smooth one.
Laura
Thanks for the tutorials, I just finished one and found it very interesting and easy to follow.
Received your 2 DVD set for light room 5. I am about a third thru it and setting up my catalog. I am pretty good with file structure work, but your lessons really helped. I have cleaned up my files and improved what I had figured out on my own.
The is an excellent course. Really enjoy your approach.
I’m very happy to hear that you are enjoying my video series, Dan! Thank you for taking the time to post a note!
I purchased your video series the Fundamentals and Beyond and Producing Great Output for Lightroom 4 a couple years ago and I am so glad I did. Your teaching style is very effective and easy to comprehend. For me it’s just the right balance between explanation and showing by example.
Specifically, your training on keywording, rating pics and making smart collections has really benefited me. I keyworded and rated over 50,000 pics and now I can quickly “find” the best pics I have to create slideshows for graduation parties, family events etc.
Without your video series, I wouldn’t have understood Lightroom’s potential or been disciplined enough to learn these features on my own.
Thanks very much
Thank you for your endorsement, Ken – I’m very happy to hear that my videos have been helpful, and that you are doing so well on the file management side, which is the part that many never get to!
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, Laurie! I am glad that you enjoyed my Fundamentals & Beyond series!
Hi Laura, I have been following you for quite a while now and love what you do.
I always thought that Lightroom was a bit beyond my ability to learn properly (something about old dogs, new tricks I fear) but having downloaded you free tutorial video I find that all I needed was a great teacher, I found that in you and I can’t begin to thank you enough.
I am now impatiently awaiting the release of you two Lightroom 6/CC tutorial videos and intend to be 1st in line for my copies.
Peace and light to you too, Laura, grateful thanks………David J
You’re welcome, David, and thanks so much for your note — you made my day! I’m getting close to finishing the Fundamentals & Beyond update.
You’re more than welcome Laura, credit where it is due. I find your tutorials to be so well explained and simple to follow. Hope to hear that your fundamentals and beyond is available soon. Best regards………..David.
I have to admit, Laura, when I first opened up Lightroom 6 I found it just about as overwhelming as Marine Corps. boot camp. That program (application to anyone under 40) has more menus than a nationwide fast food chain, and more buttons and sliders than the Space Shuttle. I didn’t think I’d ever learn to use it. That is, until I purchased your Lightroom 6 Fundamentals and Beyond course. You’ve got this old retired guy who just started photography as a hobby, zipping around Lightroom like Richard Petty on race day. I have to say that your skill with this programs is remarkable. Your short videos maintain the attention span of this old guy who sometimes has trouble remembering why he walked into the kitchen. Not a small accomplishment. You know more tricks than a herd of circus ponies and it’s my intent to learn every one of them. I may have to play the videos two or three time for it to sink into my failing memory, but as long as the DVD drive don’t break I’ll get there. Now, if I could just remember where I put the camera.
Thanks so much for your note, Edward – I’m so glad that you have enjoyed my training and that you’re zipping around in Lightroom! LOL on forgetting where you put the camera – me too.
You’re welcome, Paula – I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I’m not sure what you’re asking, Doug. I don’t follow third party presets. Here’s a tutorial on how to create and use a preset in Lightroom Classic.
Loved the video on masking in Lightroom Classic CC
I’m glad you did, Vincent!
I have just found your website by chance.Thank you so much. Finally I have found how to put individual titles to slides in LR.
Welcome, Kay!
I have Fundamentals & Beyond lr5 which I am reviewing again. I now have lr CC but most info applies. Im still in learning mode. I am interested in purchasing F&b for lr CC. Is it available?
Your video and workshops have been a treasure. I am in your fb group which is very helpful as well.
Thank you, Priscilla! I don’t have a video series for the new cloud-based Lightroom CC at this point. I will create one, but it will most likely be quite a while until it’s available. In the meantime you’re right – some of my Lightroom CC/6 and 5: The Fundamentals & Beyond series applies, particularly the videos on individual editing tools.
I must say these videos on Lightroom are invaluable; after these you don’t need to go anywhere else for help. That is she covers all there is. Photographers the world over must be grateful to her for these.
Hi Bryan, sorry I didn’t respond sooner. They get dark in the Import dialog because they are already in LR – no need to reimport them. Either go to All Photographs in the Catalog panel and scroll through the grid to find what you’re looking for, or do some type of search using the Library Filter bar. (Here’s a tutorial on searching for photos.)
Hi Laura, I sent you an inquiry having not realized that I could’ve posted here. One of the issues I referred to was upon importing images into Lr Classic, they go dark or the exposure decrease significantly. Images that I might otherwise be able to use/provide sooc require at the very least exposure and sometimes contrast adjustment that I might not otherwise have to do if this weren’t occurring. It’s become terribly time consuming. I have searched and found various articles as clearly I’m not the only one who has this issue but I’ve yet to find a definitive resolution unfortunately. I shoot with a Canon Rebel T6 if that helps at all.
Thanks in advance for your reply, I find your platform extremely helpful as I continue to increase my knowledge in adeptness in utilizing Lr.
Hi Erin, here’s an article on this topic. Note that the profiles it mentions are now in the Basic panel in Lightroom Classic.
