Adobe introduced a BRAND NEW cloud-based photography solution today at MAX – and it’s called “Lightroom CC”. If you thought there already was a “Lightroom CC” program, you’d be correct – that one has been renamed “Lightroom Classic”. (UPDATE March 2019: “Lightroom CC” has now been renamed “Lightroom”.)
Lightroom CC is:
- A complete ecosystem, not just a desktop application – it consists of Lightroom CC Desktop, Lightroom CC iOS, Lightroom CC Android, and Lightroom CC Web. Automatically have all your photos with you everywhere you go (mobile, web, and up to two computers) and have all the work you do in any location sync back to everywhere else.
- Easier to use than Lightroom Classic, with its hands-off cloud-based file and catalog system.
- A powerful non-destructive editor for raw files (and other file types). Right now Lightroom CC has most of the tools that Lightroom Classic has for editing photos (one at a time), and it will get those that are missing.
Lightroom CC is not intended to be a “Lightroom Lite” or “Lightroom Elements” program – instead it’s positioned as a more modern, cloud-based solution.
It’s currently missing many features that Classic has, so this may not be the time for most of you to switch to Lightroom CC.

Quite a number of my photo originals from 2017 seem to be missing in both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom CC and replaced by files called ‘nonadjustednonraw_thumb_xxx_jpg’. What happened? How can I find the originals?
That’s a new one for me, Janne! I would recommend posting your issue on lightroomforums.net. (Create an account and sign in, and then you’ll see the Make Thread buttons. If you’re not sure which sub-forum to post in, just guess.) If you think of it, please let us know what you find out.
I have just purchased Lightroom CC and this video has helped me so much. I have been watching videos on how to import a logo and have been totally confused as what I have purchased does not have the navigation/menu that the videos have. I have been watching videos of how to do it on the older version. Now to figure out a way to do it :)
If you’re referring to putting a logo in the interface, Kylie, it’s not possible. If you’re referring to adding a logo as a watermark to photos, that’s not possible yet either.
Don’t watch any video tutorials labeled “Lightroom CC” if they were created before October 18, 2017, as they refer to what is now called Lightroom Classic.

I just finished watching your Introduction to Lightroom CC video . Thanks for the overview.
Being new to the LR/PS world, I am perplexed. I would think that it should be simple, after editing, to print one’s edited photo or to export it to another app, an email as an attachment, my desktop, etc. Can you explain how to do these two elementary tasks in Lightroom CC (I have Version 2.0.2) or lead me to a website, blog or tutorial that can?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Bill, in Lightroom Classic CC all of the tasks you mention are currently available. Lightroom CC (desktop) is a newer product that is slowly adding new capabilities. Printing is not yet available, nor is emailing directly from LR CC Desktop. You can export JPEG copies of your photos to your desktop or other hard drive location – click on the Share icon in the top right and choose Save To. (You can choose between a JPEG and “Original + Settings”, which with a raw file, for example, would be a raw file + an XMP file containing your edits.) To export to another app, export to your hard drive, then open the file in the other app. (Lightroom CC mobile does have sharing to another mobile app and sharing to email.)
